Identification

  • Erect leaves are sword-shaped and ribbed
  • Center of rhizomes is pink
  • Seed pods float
  • 3 – 4 feet tall

Threats

  • Spreads by rhizomes and seeds
  • Displaces native plants
  • Plant can cause skin irritation

Management

  • Dig out root ball with a shovel or pry bar
  • Cover plants with a mat
  • Clip flowers, then applying herbicide to cut stems
  • Wear gloves as plant causes skin irritation
