Water Quality

The HCSWCD is dedicated to protecting water quality through lake and stream monitoring, providing equipment for our volunteer water monitoring program, monitoring and managing for aquatic invasive species, protecting stream banks and shorelines, and providing information about septic systems and alternative toilet options.

Hamilton County is located in the headwaters of six major watersheds:  Oswegatchie River, Raquette River, Black River, Sacandaga River, Upper Hudson River, and Mohawk River.
